Freelancing and Dealing with Clients

Description: In this talk, Kalv will be speaking about freelancing and dealing with clients, while drawing upon examples from his extensive background in the tech industry.

Kalv is the CEO and founder of Brewhouse: one of the leading product development agencies in Vancouver. His first client for software development was building a visual basic application in 1996 for his school to automate the report cards. Since then he has gained a Computer Science degree from Southhampton University UK, developed software for telcos, banks, and built a couple of startups. For a part of his career and still today with Brewhouse, he deals with clients and learns what their business needs are, depending on the stage of growth that they are in.

Todd Whiteman is the Technical Lead for Komodo IDE at ActiveState. He works closely with open source software like Mozilla, Python and JavaScript, to ensure that Komodo is the best IDE for dynamic languages. Todd has been working on Komodo IDE for 8 years, adding components such as the Vi Key Bindings, Distributed Source Code Control, 64-bit Linux builds as well as Remote SSH support into Komodo.
