Introduction to Photoshop for Web Developers

Description: Whether you want to learn how to make hi-fidelity mockups, design specialized graphics, or how to process large batches of images at once, this course is made for you. We will be looking at Photoshop from the perspective of a web developer. Whether you have some Photoshop experience, or none at all, there is something in this course for you. Please bring a laptop with Photoshop installed, as the software will not be provided. We will be working in Photoshop CC 2014, but any version past CS2 will be fine.

Kelly is a multidisciplinary designer passionate about taking on challenging design problems. After working in the games industry, he decided that he wanted to continue his growth as a designer by trying out different modes of design. This curiosity brought him to Beijing where he worked for Dream Lighting to create 3D visualizations and animations, web design, and motion graphics. Now he is back in Vancouver, taking on a range of projects and looking forward to collaborate and share his design skills with the world. Kelly is also a proud CodeCore Alumni from our January 2014 Cohort.

This will include a high level overview of the framework, discussion about it's appropriate use cases, and the downsides of developing with it. An agnostic approach to software development

Description: During this talk, Denis will draw upon his 12+ years of experience in the IT industry to talk about the importance of adopting an agnostic approach to problem-solving and tool selection in software development. This philosophy encompasses the idea that it's not necessarily about adjusting the problem to fit the tools, but, rather selecting the appropriate tools to address the problem.

Denis is currently the Director of Development at Pendo Rent. He has 12+ years of experience in the IT industry holding positions from developer to senior management, and 5+ years of experience in product management mostly within fast paced, high stake startup environments. He has an education that highlights his great interest in lifecycle of the product (and all of its aspects such as development, design, marketing and financing), and is a great believer in hiding complexity behind elegant and simple UX solutions.
